The LAPD Devonshire Police Activity League Supporters, better known as Devonshire PALS, is highly effective at deterring gangs and preventing crime. For more than 30 years, PALS has provided after school and weekend enrichment programs for at-risk children and teens that build strong, positive relationships between youth and the LAPD.

PALS promotes trust and understanding between young people and police officers by bringing youth under the supervision and constructive influence of dedicated law enforcement professionals. The program is based on the conviction that young people—if they are reached early enough—can develop strong, positive attitudes toward police officers and the law.

4th Annual Monte Carlo Night to Benefit Pals Is Another Huge Success at the House that “Bart” Built

The 4th Annual Monte Carlo Night took place on October 3 with a Denim & Diamonds theme. It seems this party gets better every year!!  Every one of the people in attendance – numbering over 500! -- had a blast.  Nancy, dressed in elegant cowgirl regalia, once again opened her Northridge home to raise additional funds for PALS (Police Activities League Supporters) to purchase materials needed and for the various programs for the Councilman Greig Smith LAPD Devonshire PALS Youth Center, named after the local councilman who has been so supportive in the efforts of PALS and other organizations.

I am excited to be a part of the Devonshire Police Activity League Supporters (PALS) organization. It is a well-known principle that devoting attention, training and mentoring to the children of today will make tomorrow’s future brighter. This is true for the child as well as the community at large.

There are so many influences on a child today, with the constant barrage of peer influence. . . some good, but most not. The ready availability of alcohol, drugs and other illegal substances and activities of the peer group sometimes present a vacuum that many cannot resist.

Again, I am excited to be involved in the Devonshire PALS and will offer my support to this tremendous effort. Every effort with the children today will yield the greatest benefit in their continued success by remaining free of negative influences and remaining on a positive path. I encourage all to embrace the efforts of PALS.
